About

Barbara Ruth Saunders was born in the Bronx and grew up in Westchester County, New York. She moved to California at 17, lured by the legend of the Merry Pranksters and the buzz around Stanford University.

She is drawn to exploring the moments when collective life and inner life converge. When not working for money or birding, Barbara features at poetry readings around the San Francisco Bay Area and writes nonfiction, poetry, memoir, and the occasional piece for solo performance.

She joined LaborFest Writers in 2024.
